Masters of Recall Overview
As part of the Year 7, 8 and 9 curriculum at Trinity Academy Halifax, students are required to gain key knowledge in all of their subjects. This knowledge will equip them not only to understand each subject in more depth and set the core knowledge foundations but will also help them to understand the world around them. At Trinity we understand that learning knowledge takes time and this part of the website is dedicated to providing resources to help students revise the content needed each term.
In Year 7, 8 and 9 students will be provided with ‘Knowledge Organisers’ from the following subjects each term:
- English
- Maths
- Science
- History
- Geography
- RS
- French or Spanish
- Computing
Students will also be tested on the core knowledge from Curriculum for Life and the Professional Standards curriculum.
As part of their weekly home learning students will be expected to revise from each knowledge organiser. Three times per year students will sit their “big quiz” as part of Masters of Recall. This is an online test that focuses on the key knowledge needed in each subject. Students will answer 10 Recall questions from each of the 10 subjects. Results will be shared with students and teachers will guide students on how to use this information to improve their scores.
Success at Masters of Recall is recognised in several ways:
- Achievement points
- Certification
- Achievement badges.
Students who regularly succeed at Masters of Recall go on to achieve well in formal assessments and examinations.
